Areas of research
- Satellite geodesy: gravity field determination from satellite gradiometry and in particular from the ESA (European Space Agency) GOCE (Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer) satellite mission, launched in March 2009. This research is done in the framework of the European GOCE Gravity Consortium (EGG-C), which comprises many European universities and research centres, and in the framework of the national project GOCE-ITALY.
- Statistical and numerical data analysis with applications to physical geodesy (geoid estimation and inverse gravimetric problems), remote sensing (image classification), numerical cartography (spline interpolation of digital terrain models), GPS positioning (cycle-slip detection) and navigation (goGPS software development).

From the academic year 2006/07 to 2010/11 he is contract-professor of the course of Navigation Laboratory for the Degree (M.Sc.) in Environmental Engineering and for the Degree (M.Sc.) in Computer Engineering (Como Campus). From the academic year 2007/08 the lectures of this course were given in English.
Since the academic year 2011/12 he is professor of the course of Photogrammetry for the Degree (M.Sc.) in Environmental Engineering and for the Degree (M.Sc.) in Civil Environmental (Milan Campus).
